Birthday Time!

Yesterday we got a surprise visit from our nieces in the early afternoon.  We don’t have many toys so they were stuck playing Angry Birds and Connect 4 on Tim’s phone – I don’t think that bothered them 🙂  We ran a few errands after that where I got some free stuff using my coupons and then met up with my family for dinner.  We were celebrating my mom’s birthday at Pistachio’s in Allentown.

We were seated right away (but with only 3 menus for 5 people…) and the waitress brought out our drinks and a plate of hummus on the house, as well as bread, and our appetizer – potato chips with gorgonzola on top!

After that things went downhill a little.  Everybody got their meals after a long wait and mine came 5 or 10 minutes later.  It looked impressive

…but that tomato there on top was complete raw, cold even.  The part I remember most about the meal from last time was the balsamic eggplant.  This time it was so soaked in balsamic vinegar that I could hardly eat it.  The polenta on the bottom was delicious though!  The pasta portions were small and a few people said their dishes were cold (including the people at the table next to us!).  We will not be returning, it definitely wasn’t worth the prices!  We went back home for homemade chocolate mousse and whipped cream and presents!

We finished the night with some Guitar Hero – which some people got very into!
